About

Nursing education at Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to begin a successful career as a nurse. RCC offers a variety of degree, diploma, and certificate programs tailored to meet the changing needs of today's healthcare environment. The college also provides a range of continuing education opportunities for nurses, including online and in-person classes, workshops, and seminars. RCC's Associate Degree in Nursing Program prepares students for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Students have the opportunity to build their knowledge of basic medical sciences, nursing theory, and clinical practice, while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The curriculum provides a solid foundation in the biological, chemical, physical, and social sciences, as well as strong personal and professional development. In addition to traditional classroom courses, RCC's nursing program also features extensive hands-on experience in clinical settings. This includes rotations in emergency departments, labor and delivery, intensive care units, and psychiatric hospitals. Students also receive supervised experience working with real patients in diverse healthcare settings. Through these experiences, they develop their skills in patient assessment and medication administration. RCC's nursing program also features robust support services, such as academic advising and career counseling. Students can take advantage of tutoring, mentoring, and study skills workshops to ensure academic success. The college also offers a variety of extracurricular activities and events, including meetings with local healthcare professionals, research presentations, and field trips to medical facilities. By combining classroom instruction with hands-on learning and support services, Rappahannock Community College helps students become knowledgeable, compassionate, and competent nurses. With the skills and experience gained from RCC’s nursing program, graduates will be ready for rewarding careers in the healthcare industry.
