Nursing Education at Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) provides students with an array of pathways to pursue an education in nursing. With several associate degree, certificate, and diploma programs, NVCC teaches its students the latest in nursing theory and practice for a career in the health care industry. Programs are designed to meet the needs of traditional and non-traditional students alike. At NVCC, students study in a supportive and diverse learning environment. Students benefit from small class sizes, experienced faculty, and comprehensive resources. By utilizing state-of-the-art technology, NVCC delivers its curriculum in both online and in-person formats. In addition, students have access to the college’s on-campus Clinical Simulation Lab which offers hands-on practice in a controlled, real-world simulated hospital setting. The NVCC nursing program runs under the guidance of the National League of Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC), which provides junior and senior level students with the opportunity to obtain an Associate Degree in Nursing. Program graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Besides the NLNAC, students have the added benefit of studying under the guidelines of the state’s Department of Health Professions (DHHP). To help ensure that its student body has the best chance for success, the DHHP requires all students to complete a CPR and First Aid certification course prior to entering the NVCC nursing program. NVCC offers its students the very best in nursing education. With a wide range of educational resources, NVCC continues to ensure the success of its students.
