Through the college’s Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AASN) and the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) approved Practical Nursing (PN) Certificate Program, RCC prepares students for careers as registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and advanced practice nurses. The AASN program at RCC consists of 90 credits and can be completed in three academic semesters. The program offers theoretical and practical courses that cover all aspects of patient care, including pharmacology, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, ethics, and pathophysiology. Student nurses receive clinical experience through internships at local healthcare facilities. In addition to the courses, RCC also offers specialized courses that prepare students for the NCLEX-RN exams and advanced nursing certifications. The PN Certificate Program is also approved by OSBN and consists of 31 credits. It can be completed in two academic semesters and prepares students for licensure as Licensed Practical Nurses. The curriculum covers basic patient care and focuses on issues such as medication administration, nutrition, vital signs, health assessment, and more.
