Suny Adirondack offers various educational programs in Nursing to help students achieve their goals and maximize their career potential. The nursing program is designed to prepare graduates to care for individuals, families, and communities in a variety of health care settings. Through classroom instruction, clinical experience, and hands-on practice, students gain an education that prepares them to become effective and ethical members of the healthcare profession. The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program at SUNY Adirondack provides an education that enables graduates to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Graduates may then apply for a license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in New York State. The ADN program also meets the criteria for admission to the RN to BS Completion Program at Hudson Valley Community College. The LPN to RN Transition Program at SUNY Adirondack is designed for individuals who are already Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) wishing to earn an Associate Degree in Nursing. Students who have successfully completed the LPN to RN Transition Program will receive both their LPN license as well as their Associate Degree in Nursing. The Baccalaureate Program at SUNY Adirondack provides professional development opportunities for registered nurses. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is designed to offer a comprehensive academic program including theoretical and practical knowledge in nursing and medical practice. A selection of specializations is available, such as Gerontological Nursing, Nursing Education, Nursing Administration, Nursing Leadership, and Clinical Nurse Leader. At SUNY Adirondack, we are dedicated to providing our students with high quality nursing education, enabling them to become prepared, effective and compassionate nurses. We strive to create an environment where students can learn, grow and thrive on their journey to becoming successful healthcare professionals.
