Located in Brooklyn, New York City College of Technology (City Tech) is a public college which is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system. The college offers a wide range of educational programs, including nursing education. City Tech’s Nursing Department provides comprehensive nursing education from the pre-licensure bachelor of science in nursing to the doctoral level. At City Tech's Nursing Department, students can pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing, and a Registered Nurse Refresher Program. The Undergraduate program has two tracks: the Generic Track and the Accelerated Second Degree Track. The Generic Track is a four-year program for high school graduates who are new to nursing. The Accelerated Second Degree Track is an 18-month program for those with a degree in another field who want to transition into nursing. The Associate of Applied Science in Nursing is a three-semester program geared toward Licensed Practical Nurses and foreign nurses who wish to obtain a registered nurse license. The Registered Nurse Refresher Program is designed for licensed nurses who need to update their knowledge and skills. At City Tech, students learn in a state-of-the-art simulation lab, practice in community settings, and get hands-on experience. As part of their studies, students also participate in clinicals at nearby hospitals, clinics, and health care centers. City Tech’s Nursing Department also supports student research and leadership opportunities. The faculty at City Tech’s Nursing Department are committed to providing quality education that prepares graduates for practice in the ever-changing health care landscape. With a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory experiences, and clinical placements, students gain the skills and knowledge to become successful nurses.
