The college provides both Associate Degree Nursing and Licensed Practical Nurse programs. The Associate Degree Nursing program at Jefferson State Community College provides students with a comprehensive understanding of nursing principles, practices and procedures. The curriculum includes courses in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, clinical skills and pathophysiology. Students also have the opportunity to take specialized courses such as psychiatric mental health nursing, maternal-child nursing, health promotion and nursing in a global society. Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to enter the workforce as Registered Nurses. The Licensed Practical Nurse program at Jefferson State Community College prepares individuals for an entry-level position in the nursing field. Courses in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, nutrition and pharmacology are part of the curriculum. In addition, students will receive hands-on training in clinical skills such as infection control, wound care and documentation. Upon graduation, students will be able to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN) to become licensed practical nurses.
