About

Snead State Community College (SSCC) provides nursing education for those wishing to enter the healthcare field. The nursing program provides an excellent foundation for today's and tomorrow's nursing professionals. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for a successful career as an entry-level nurse, and courses in the program include anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, mental health, nutrition, and leadership. SSCC also offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing Program or a Practical Nursing Program with both traditional and distance learning options available. The traditional nursing degree program allows students to earn their degree over two years and includes supervised clinical experience. A variety of clinical settings give students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their area of specialization. In addition to practical nursing experiences, students can also choose to specialize in one of several medical fields such as gerontology, midwifery, occupational therapy, and advanced primary nursing care. At SSCC, nursing students have access to state-of-the-art simulation laboratories where they can practice newly acquired skills, along with experienced faculty and staff who are dedicated to helping students reach their educational goals. Students are also taught how to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care and how to function safely and effectively in a variety of settings. Graduates of the nursing program at SSCC are prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). The nursing program at SSCC offers the perfect platform for aspiring nurses who want to pursue a successful career in the medical field. With quality instruction, cutting-edge technology, and a caring faculty, SSCC has become a leader in nursing education in Alabama.
