About

Midwest College of Oriental Medicine-Racine (MCOM-R) offers a comprehensive nursing education program that equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice holistic medicine. The college focuses on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western scientific medicine, providing students with a multidisciplinary education that spans both disciplines. Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program will develop a foundation in TCM, modern pharmacology, and nutrition, as well as gain the skills necessary to diagnose and treat patients holistically. The BSN program requires the completion of 120 credits and provides students with the opportunity to specialize in a variety of concentrations, such as women’s health, geriatrics, pediatrics, family practice, and mental health. Courses may include Acupuncture Theory and Technique, Eastern Therapeutic Nutrition, Pathophysiology, Medical Terminology, and Professional Practice Development. By providing a comprehensive and well-rounded education, MCOM-R prepares students to effectively diagnose and treat patients utilizing both traditional and modern holistic approaches. In addition to the classroom portion of the BSN program, MCOM-R offers clinical practice and internships at community facilities and hospitals, giving students the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and skill set in a practical setting. Clinical practice is supervised by professional faculty and provides opportunities to work with patients directly, allowing for hands-on experience. Upon completion of the program, MCOM-R BSN graduates will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to practice holistic and modern medicine. Graduates are prepared to work in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, private practices, and holistic health centers. MCOM-R also provides resources to help students find employment upon graduation, further ensuring they are positioned to succeed in the healthcare field.
