Putnam Career and Technical Center

About

Founded in 1971, Putnam Career and Technical Center (PCTC) is an accredited nursing school that provides students with a comprehensive nursing education. PCTC offers two tracks; the Associate of Science in Nursing degree and the Practical Nursing Certificate. Students have the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for successful careers in the nursing profession. At PCTC, faculty members emphasize a learner-centered approach to instruction backed by evidence-based practice and the application of current technologies. Coursework focuses on core nursing principles and concepts and includes theory, supervised and clinical practicums, and practical skills labs. PCTC also provides students with career counseling and job placement services. The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program is a two-year track that provides graduates with an in-depth understanding of basic and applied sciences related to nursing. Students engage in clinical experiences and apply their knowledge in real-world settings under the supervision of experienced nurses. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the national licensurure exam, thus obtaining their license to practice as Registered Nurses (RN). The Practical Nursing Certificate (PN) program is a 10-month accelerated track designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN). During this program, students participate in various clinical settings while learning health promotion, learning the basics of client assessment techniques, caring for the acutely and chronically ill, and developing therapeutic relationships with clients and families. Putnam Career and Technical Center provides an excellent educational experience to all its students. Graduates of the programs have gone on to have successful careers in a variety of nursing fields, including hospitals, physician offices, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, and more. With a commitment to quality and a dedication to preparing tomorrow's nurses, PCTC is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.
