Columbia Basin College (CBC) offers a variety of nursing education programs in the Columbia Basin region. The college is proud to provide programs that meet the healthcare needs of the community, and are committed to preparing nurses who are prepared to make a difference in their profession. The college is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) and is a part of the Washington State Hospital Association. The college offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing (AASN) and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing (BSN). The AASN program is designed to prepare nurses to work with patients in a variety of health care settings. Students study a variety of topics related to patient care, nursing theory, and clinical practice. The curriculum includes courses in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, and pathophysiology. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to take the state board examination for registered nurses (RN). The BSN program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of nursing science and leadership. The curriculum provides a broad range of courses including medical-surgical nursing, fundamentals of nursing care, critical care, and public health nursing. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a licensed RN. Columbia Basin College also offers several certificates and continuing education programs for licensed nurses. The college works with clinical sites to provide hands-on opportunities to further develop nursing skills. Courses may include emergency care, OB/GYN, nursing management, and advanced assessment.
