About

Nursing Education at Pierce College District is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become strong and effective nurses. The college district offers a wide range of nursing education pathways, allowing students to pursue an advanced degree, certificate, or diploma in nursing. For those who wish to pursue a career in nursing, Pierce College District offers an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN), as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). The ADN program includes courses in medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and patient care. After successfully completing the ADN curriculum, students must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Licensed Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) in order to become licensed. The BSN program at Pierce College District is offered for registered nurses who want to advance their degree to the bachelor’s level. This program provides students with theoretical, research-based, and clinical knowledge needed in order to become successful practicing professional nurses. In addition to completing the BSN coursework, students must also complete a 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience prior to taking the NCLEX-RN exam. Successful BSN graduates will then be eligible to seek licensure in any state or territory in the United States. At Pierce College District, students can pursue a certificate or diploma in practical nursing as well. These programs usually require one year of full-time study and are designed to prepare students with the skills and knowledge necessary to become LPNs. During their studies, students will take classes in health assessment, medical-surgical nursing, and pharmacology. Following successful completion of the program and passing the NCLEX-PN exam, graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and doctor’s offices. Pierce College District is committed to ensuring that all of its nursing students have the support, resources, and training necessary to be successful in their chosen field. With its convenient online classes and numerous financial aid options, Pierce College District makes it easy for aspiring nurses to pursue the next step in their nursing career.
