The Nursing Program has an excellent reputation and strives to remain at the forefront of nursing education. WWU offers degrees in bachelor's, master's, and doctorate levels of nursing degrees. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is designed to prepare students to be successful, compassionate nurses in a variety of settings. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice and focuses on best practices and techniques to ensure students are adequately prepared for their role as a nurse. The BSN program provides courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Psychology, Sociology, and more. Upon completion of the program, students will be qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The MSN program offers educational opportunities for advanced nursing practice and leadership roles. The program includes coursework in Advanced Pathophysiology, Advanced Physical Assessment, and Advanced Practice Nursing. Students can specialize in various areas such as Adult/Gerontology, Family/Individual across the lifespan, Mental Health, and Population/Public health. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN and the ANCC’s Nurse Practitioner exam (NP-BC). The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is the highest level of nursing education available at WWU. The DNP program allows students to take their clinical expertise to the next level and pursue research-focused careers in the health care industry. The program emphasizes patient outcomes and emphasizes evidence-based practice while providing students with the skills they need to succeed as a leader in the field. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, the ANCC’s Nurse Practitioner exam (NP-BC), and the ANCC’s Nurse Executive/Advanced Certified Nurse Executive (NE/ACNE) certification.
