About

Nursing education at Navarro College helps equip students with the skills needed to become successful nurses. Students enrolled in the nursing program have the opportunity to benefit from hands-on clinical practice and access to experienced faculty and staff. The college offers Associate Degree in Nursing, Vocational Nursing Programs and Practical Nursing Programs. The Associate Degree in Nursing Program provides students with the theoretical knowledge and skills necessary to become a Registered Nurse. The curriculum is based on the standards of the Texas Board of Nursing and includes course work in anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, diagnostic tests, medical terminology and clinical nursing theory. At the end of the program, students are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) in order to become a practicing nurse in the United States. Navarro College also offers Vocational Nursing Programs and Practical Nursing Programs to students who are interested in pursuing a career in the nursing field. Both programs feature a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on clinical instruction in a variety of healthcare settings. The Vocational Nursing Program focuses on providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to pass the NCLEX-PN and begin working as an entry-level nurse. The Practical Nursing Program is designed to prepare nurses for positions in long-term care facilities, assisting physicians in office-based practice and providing home health care services. At Navarro College, nursing education is accessible to all types of students, regardless of academic backgrounds. Upon completion of their program, graduates are prepared to participate in the ever-changing world of nursing with its evolving technologies and techniques. The college strives to help aspiring nurses become competent and compassionate professionals who possess the knowledge and confidence to provide quality care to their patients.
