Texas A&M University-Texarkana is dedicated to providing students with an excellent education in nursing. The program has been developed to meet the rigorous educational requirements necessary to become a Registered Nurse. This program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). It is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for providing quality nursing care, as well as preparing them for further study and advanced practice. The nursing program offers two options for students. The traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program provides students with the necessary foundation for a successful career in nursing. This four-year program focuses on classroom instruction coupled with clinical experiences to prepare students for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). The program includes didactic and clinical coursework critical to becoming an effective and competent nurse. Those looking for an accelerated nursing program will benefit from the second option - the R.N. to B.S.N. program. This program allows students who are already registered nurses to complete their bachelor's degree while they are still working in the field. Students can attend classes through a combination of online learning and on-campus clinicals. Finally, Texas A&M University-Texarkana also offers graduate-level studies in nursing with the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. This graduate-level program prepares advanced practice nurses for specialty areas of nursing. With this program, students will gain knowledge and skills in areas such as advanced pharmacology, clinical decision-making, patient safety, and evidence-based practice. At Texas A&M University-Texarkana, students interested in pursuing a career in nursing can find a variety of options and resources to help them achieve their educational goals. With its various undergraduate and graduate programs and knowledgeable faculty and staff, TAMUT is committed to helping students succeed in their pursuit of a rewarding career in nursing.
