About

Howard College offers a wide range of nursing education options for students in pursuit of a career in the healthcare field. From Associate’s degrees to Certificates, and even Doctoral programs, the college's nursing education programs cover numerous topics with the intention of providing students with critical and practical skills they need to be successful in their chosen profession. The Associate of Science in Nursing Degree Program (ASN) provides a rigorous education that combines classroom lecture and lab work with clinical settings to give students the knowledge and experience to enter a career in nursing. The curriculum involves instruction in anatomy, physiology, nutrition and pharmacology, as well as an introduction to patient care and communication ethics. Upon completion of the program, graduates are awarded their ASN degree and are eligible to take the national licensure examination for Registered Nurses (RN). Howard College also offers a Certificate of Practical Nursing (PN) program for students who have already obtained a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency. This program covers essential practice skills and helps students gain the technical knowledge and training necessary for entry into the field of nursing. After passing the NCLEX-PN licensing examination, students are eligible to apply for licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). For more experienced nurses, the college offers a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program designed for those looking to enhance their existing knowledge and advance their nursing career to a higher level. The goal of the program is to develop skilled professionals who can provide evidence-based, comprehensive, integrated and patient-focused care. The curriculum focuses on advanced roles in clinical practice and leadership, as well as research, professional writing and teaching. In addition, the program includes a capstone project involving a service-learning experience in which students apply their learning in a real-world setting. Whether you are a student just beginning your career in nursing or an experienced professional looking to further your education, Howard College offers a variety of quality nursing education programs to fit your needs.
