Nursing Education in Southern Oklahoma Technology Center provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a highly skilled nurse and healthcare professional. The education focuses on providing practical, hands-on experience and the academic study of medical and health care theory. Students enrolled in nursing programs at Southern Oklahoma Technology Center have access to expert faculty, dedicated staff, state-of-the-art technology, and formal laboratory experiences that enable them to develop the clinical, critical thinking, leadership and management skills they will need to be successful in the nursing field. At Southern Oklahoma Tech Center, nursing students gain a deep understanding of the human body, its systems, and the various healthcare treatments used to keep patients healthy. Through theory-based course work, hands-on clinical training in local hospitals, and qualified instructors, students receive an education that prepares them for the ever-changing world of health care. Courses range from anatomy and physiology to pharmacology, patient care, and community health. The curriculum at Southern Oklahoma Technology Center offers comprehensive classes and specialty courses designed to prepare nurses for the field of practice. Additionally, the program provides specialized courses in advanced nursing roles, such as nurse informatics, nurse practitioner, and nurse midwifery. All the courses are designed to meet the guidelines of the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). At Southern Oklahoma Technology Center, students can choose from three Associate Degree in Applied Science (AAS) programs in nursing, which include a generic nursing track, a mental health track, and a licensed practical nurse (LPN) track. All three degrees cover the foundation of nursing knowledge and practice, but each program offers specialized courses that focus on specific aspects of the healthcare industry. Nursing students at Southern Oklahoma Technology Center benefit from learning in small class sizes, attentive faculty and staff, and the latest in healthcare technology. After successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN examinations, earn their certifications and begin their career as a professional nurse.
