From undergraduate degrees to advanced degrees and certificates, the university provides a range of educational options for aspiring nurses. The Department of Nursing at Cleveland State University offers an array of accredited nursing programs for students. These include both undergraduate and graduate programs such as the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and Post Master's Certificate (PMC). Additionally, the university offers four specialized accelerated nursing programs: a BSN-to-DNP, an MSN-to-DNP, a Nurse Practitioner track, and a Nursing Leadership track. The BSN program prepares registered nurses to provide exemplary healthcare to diverse patient populations. This four-year program focuses on building knowledge in both clinical and leadership-coordinated care. Coursework encompasses evidence-based practice, nursing research and professional values. The curriculum includes hands-on experience in a variety of specialty areas, including geriatric care, mental health, public health, and chronic illness management. At the graduate level, the MSN program is designed to prepare nurses for advanced roles in healthcare. Students may choose from seven specialty concentrations, including Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. All of these programs combine classroom instruction with clinical experience. The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is designed for nurses who have already completed a master’s degree in nursing and wish to pursue advanced practice careers. Specializations include Advanced Practice Nursing Clinical Leadership, Nursing Informatics, Nursing Education, and Organization and Systems Leadership. Through the DNP program, students can also complete an accelerated Nurse Practitioner track or a Nurse Leadership track.
