Nursing Education at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College (UCBA) provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to become successful nurses and practitioners in the health care field. Students enrolled in the nursing education program will gain a foundation of medical terminology and techniques, while also learning about anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, medical and therapeutic interventions, patient care, professional development and communication, and health promotion and maintenance. Through lectures, laboratory experience, and clinical experiences, students will develop the critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential in the nursing field. The UCBA nursing program offers two levels of nursing education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The ASN program provides students with the necessary skills to become certified registered nurses. By completing a two-year, 60-credit course of study, students will learn about patient assessment and care, human growth and development, research and evidence-based practice, nursing management and leadership, and healthcare delivery systems. The BSN program is a four-year, 120-credit program which prepares students for professional roles as registered nurses. This program focuses on research-based application of nursing theory to improve patient care through additional studies in health policy, leadership and management, public health, and critical thinking. In addition to the nursing education courses UCBA provides, the school offers an array of support services to help students succeed. These include advising, tutoring, career services, library and online resources, support groups, and study spaces. UCBA also offers a Bridge Program which helps bridge the gap between RNs and MSNs. This program allows students to take their first steps toward becoming a nurse practitioner or nurse educator. At the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College, students are offered top-notch nursing education to become compassionate and accomplished health care professionals. With the wide range of courses and services offered, students are sure to find the right program that fits their personal goals.
