Nursing education at Mississippi University for Women is focused on preparing students to be successful in a variety of nursing roles and to provide safe, compassionate care to their patients. The university offers both bachelor's and master's degree programs, as well as a doctoral program in Nursing Leadership and Administration. The curriculum is designed to give students the skills and knowledge they need to excel in the ever-evolving healthcare industry. The undergraduate nursing program provides a comprehensive education designed to equip graduates with the expertise to pursue a range of nursing specialties. Classes focus on topics such as human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, general nursing principles, and medical terminology. Students learn about evidence-based practice, patient safety, and ethics, and participate in simulations and clinical experiences. At the graduate level, Mississippi University for Women offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), which requires students to specialize in one of four areas: Nursing Education, Clinical Nursing, Public Health Nursing, or Nursing Leadership and Administration. The MSN program emphasizes teaching and leadership skills and prepares students to assume roles in college-level or hospital-level nursing education, and nursing administration and management. In addition to the MSN, Mississippi University for Women also offers a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. This is a terminal degree that prepares nurses to lead in the areas of community health, public health, healthcare administration, policy analysis, and healthcare advocacy.
