Itasca Community College (ICC) offers a variety of nursing education options for those interested in pursuing a career in the nursing field. The college offers an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree program, a Licensed Practical Nurse progression certificate, and several other certificates. Students enrolled in the AAS in Nursing program will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to qualify as a Registered Nurse upon completion of the program. The AAS in Nursing program provides students with classroom instruction and hands-on clinical experience in a variety of settings, such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, and home health agencies. Students also receive training in health assessment, pharmacology, nutrition, and medical ethics. Graduates will have an understanding of healthcare policy, law, and regulations, as well as an introduction to public health concepts and health promotion strategies. Students will also benefit from career-specific learning experiences in nursing clinics, simulation labs, and community agencies. For those who already possess an LPN license, the Licensed Practical Nurse progression certificate provides an opportunity to earn their RN license. The program consists of advanced nursing courses that build on the existing knowledge and experience of the student. Courses are offered online and on-site, with some classes offered as hybrid courses that require both online and in-person attendance. In addition to its nursing programs, ICC also offers continuing education and professional development seminars for practicing nurses, as well as certifications in specialized fields of nursing such as gerontological nursing and rehabilitation nursing. For those interested in continuing their education, the college has a master's program in nursing and could allow for opportunities for further study at the doctoral level. At ICC, students learn the latest trends and technologies, develop their leadership skills, and gain knowledge of best practices and evidence-based research in the nursing field. With the quality and variety of nursing education options offered at ICC, students have the opportunity to launch a successful career in the ever-evolving nursing industry.
