Alexandria Technical & Community College (ATCC) offers nursing education with a focus on community health and safety. The school provides Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (A.A.S.) Degrees, a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) Program and several other certifications to help students take the first steps in their careers as nurses. ATCC’s nursing programs are committed to providing quality instruction that is both comprehensive and up-to-date with the latest advances in the field. All faculty members are required to have current professional licenses and registration as well as specialized knowledge in the theories and practices of nursing. In addition, ATCC also offers an individualized approach to nursing education that allows students to develop their own specialties and interests. The A.A.S. in Nursing program provides students with the necessary fundamentals of professional nursing and healthcare services. The core curriculum includes studies in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, disease prevention and management, nutrition, medical terminology and more. This degree program culminates in a clinical component, which provides students with supervised hands-on experience in hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical settings.
