Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is committed to providing excellent nursing education for their students. DMACC offers a variety of nursing programs for individuals seeking to pursue a career in this exciting field. The college offers Associate Degree in Nursing, Certified Nurse Aide Certificate, Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate, and 100% Online RN to BSN Completion Program. DMACC's Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a registered nurse. This program prepares students for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) which is required to obtain licensure. Through hands-on clinical experience and classroom instruction, students get the opportunity to learn how to provide direct patient care, perform basic nursing care procedures, and work on interprofessional teams. Additionally, this program has an emphasis on critical thinking and communication skills which will help develop the professional skills needed to be successful in the job market. DMACC also offers a Certified Nurse Aide Certificate Program which focuses on preparing individuals to be certified nurse aides. This program covers a wide range of health care topics such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, and patient care. Through this program, students will gain the skills and knowledge needed for the job. DMACC also offers the Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate Program which provides the necessary training to obtain a license in nursing. Students will gain knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, and patient care. Students will then be able to apply for the licensure exam after successfully completing the program. Finally, DMACC offers the 100% Online RN to BSN Completion Program which is designed to help students earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to practice as a registered nurse in any health setting.
