About

The Eastern Iowa Community College District (EICCD) is dedicated to providing the highest quality of nursing education for students in the region. With a wide range of courses and certificate and degree programs, EICCD offers comprehensive training and education in Nursing. The college’s faculty is composed of experienced nurses, who bring their expertise and dedication to the classroom, providing students with exceptional learning opportunities and access to resources in both classroom and clinical settings. At EICCD, students can pursue both an Associate Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In addition, the college also provides Certificate Programs in Practical Nursing, Long-Term Care and Clinical Nurse Specialists. All programs are approved by the State Board of Nursing, and follow the guidelines set forth by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission. The Associate Degree program covers topics such as anatomy & physiology, nutrition, pharmacology, gerontology, human development, obstetrics, and pediatric nursing. Students also learn practical nursing skills, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Upon completion, graduates are prepared to take the NCLEX-RN licensing exam, which is required to become a professional Registered Nurse. The Bachelor of Science program builds on the Associate Degree program, and includes advanced topics such as advanced medical surgical nursing, public health nursing, leadership and management, healthcare systems, community health nursing and research. Graduates are informed and competent practitioners who are prepared for careers in advanced practice nursing and other nursing specialties. Those who successfully complete the program receive a BSN degree, and are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. EICCD is committed to helping students reach their nursing educational goals. The college provides comprehensive support, including academic advice, career counseling, financial aid, scholarship information, and student services.
