Nursing education at Southeastern Technical College (STC) is designed to provide quality, affordable and accessible education to prepare students for successful careers in the nursing profession. STC offers a variety of options to help students reach their educational and career aspirations, including associate degree and certificate programs, as well as non-credit continuing education courses. With its individualized learning environment, STC allows students to customize their nursing education in order to meet their particular needs. At STC, students can choose from two different nursing associate degree programs. The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program provides a comprehensive education to prepare graduates for entry-level positions as a registered nurse. The ASN curriculum includes classes on medical surgical nursing, obstetrics, pharmacology, and mental health nursing, as well as a clinical practicum and an NCLEX-RN review course. Meanwhile, the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AASN) program provides training to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN). The AASN program includes courses in human anatomy and physiology, nutrition, medical terminology, and pharmacology, and also includes a clinical practicum. In addition to its degree programs, STC also offers a variety of certificates to further specialize in specific areas of nursing. Certificates are available in gerontological nursing, pediatric nursing, mental health nursing, and many more. STC also offers non-credit continuing education courses that allow nurses to fulfill their required continuing education hours and keep their licenses up to date.
