Nursing education at North Florida Technical College (NFTC) is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to become successful nurses in the healthcare industry. The college offers a variety of degree and diploma programs that provide specialized training in different areas of nursing. The college also provides hands-on experience in clinical settings that allow students to apply their knowledge and acquire the necessary practice to develop their nursing skills. NFTC's nursing education program provides a solid foundation of theoretical and practical knowledge in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, nutrition, medical ethics and legal issues. Students have the opportunity to participate in laboratory and clinical experiences, as well as simulations, to reinforce learned concepts. The nursing faculty at NFTC is highly experienced and qualified and holds regular feedback sessions with students to ensure they are meeting their learning objectives. In addition to general nursing courses, the college offers specialized courses such as adult critical care, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, managed care and mental health nursing. After completing all the required coursework and clinicals, the student is eligible for an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree. Students can then choose to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree by taking additional courses. At NFTC, nursing students can make use of the Learning Resource Center, which offers a computerized database of information related to nursing. The center also has study areas, a library and a skills lab. There's also the Student Success Center which provides personalized counseling, financial aid assistance, career guidance and job placement assistance. The college also provides assistance to its nursing students through clubs, organizations and activities that promote networking and camaraderie. With the help of these resources, NFTC's nursing students can gain the knowledge, skills and support they need to be successful in their career paths.
