Nursing education at Seminole State College of Florida is designed to help students pursue rewarding careers in the nursing field. With a variety of options, students can obtain an associate's degree in nursing, a bachelor's degree in nursing or even a master's degree in nursing. The Associate of Science in Nursing program at Seminole State College of Florida provides students with a comprehensive education to prepare them for entry into the nursing field. The two-year curriculum covers a variety of topics including patient assessment, pharmacology, healthcare ethics and standards, among other essential topics. In addition, the program will also give students the opportunity to gain experience through clinical experiences in various health care settings. Graduates of the program are prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), which is required in order for a nurse to become licensed. Bachelor’s degree programs offered at Seminole State College of Florida allow registered nurses to further their education and learn more advanced nursing skills. A four-year program is available for those who have already completed their associate’s degree in nursing and are ready to move on to more specialized areas of study. In addition to general nursing coursework, students will also be able to specialize in any number of areas such as gerontology, maternal child care, nursing leadership or home health care. Upon completion, students will be eligible to take the appropriate licensure exams to practice as Registered Nurses. For those wishing to continue their education beyond the undergraduate level, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is available at Seminole State College of Florida. This graduate program takes approximately two years to complete and offers a variety of specializations including Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Executive. Students will gain a strong background in nursing theory, research and practice and have the opportunity to pursue advanced courses in their chosen specialization. Students who complete the program are prepared to take the appropriate licensing exams and can go on to become leaders in the healthcare industry.
