Nursing education at Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful in their clinical practice. The college offers numerous programs that are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program is designed for students who want to become a Registered Nurse (RN). This program provides students with the theoretical and practical foundations they need to fulfill their professional duties. The program takes around two years to complete and leads to an associate’s degree from FSW. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program prepares students for entry-level positions as RNs. It also provides students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skillset to be eligible for advanced roles such as nurse practitioners or nurse administrators. The BSN program typically takes four years to complete and graduates earn a bachelor’s degree from FSW. The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is designed for students who already hold a BSN degree. This degree program offers students the opportunity to specialize in specific areas of nursing such as family practice, adult health, geriatric care, child care, community health, and much more. Upon completion of the MSN program, graduates receive a master’s degree from FSW.
