At Contra Costa College, students can get an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ASN). This program enables students to become registered nurses with all the privileges and rights associated with the profession. The curriculum is divided into two parts: theoretical and clinical learning. During the theoretical part, students will learn anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, nutrition, and medical terminology. The clinical part includes courses on patient care and management, as well as hands-on experience in college labs and affiliated hospitals. Upon completion, the students are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Contra Costa College also provides Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) and Master of Science Nursing (MSN) degrees. With the BSN degree, students can continue their education and specialize in areas such as pediatric nursing and community health. And with the MSN degree, students can further their education and specialize in advanced nursing practices such as research and leadership positions. Additionally, Contra Costa College has various student groups such as the nursing society and healthcare club. These organizations provide support and assistance to nursing majors, which can be helpful for networking and gaining experience.
