Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas has a strong commitment to providing quality nursing education for their students. The college offers Associate of Science degrees in registered nursing, as well as certificates in Licensed Practical Nursing and Certified Nursing Assistant. The Associate of Science degree is designed to prepare its graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to become successful Registered Nurses in healthcare settings. PCCUA’s nursing curriculum covers a range of topics including: medical-surgical nursing, paediatrics, maternity, geriatrics, mental health, pharmacology, nutrition and community health. Along with the fundamentals of nursing, students will gain experience in patient care plans, communication and ethical decision-making. As part of their nursing education, students are required to complete clinical experiences in order to gain hands-on experience in real world settings. Students gain an enriched understanding of nursing practice by participating in simulated learning activities, as well as practicums in local hospitals and other healthcare establishments. PCCUA expects its nursing graduates to be active in learning and embracing new technologies, procedures, and evidence-based practice.
